Michigan Biomass Energy Program, up to $24,950

The Michigan Biomass Energy Program (MBEP) is now seeking proposals for state projects that expand markets for energy and fuel derived from Michigan biomass resources. MBEP plans to award grants of up to $24,950 per project. Proposals are due to the Energy Office by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 9, 2007.. For more information, click here.

Grants We Have Recently Completed

The grants listed below represent those grants we were awarded and have successfully completed. If you would like any additional information regarding our experiences with these projects, please feel free to contact us.

E-85 Fueling Insfrastructure

We were awarded a grant for $42,738 from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop Ann Arbor's first public E-85 fueling site. We held a grand opening event for this project on August 5, 2006. The pump is located at 2275 W. Stadium Blvd. in Ann Arbor.

E-85 Infrastructure Support

We were awarded a grant for $13,157 from the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition to be applied towards the development of public E-85 fueling infrastructure in Ann Arbor.

Biodiesel Production Feasibility Study

We were awarded a $29,990 grant by the Michigan Energy Office to perform a feasibility study on the development of a biodiesel production facility in Washtenaw County. Project partners included FBA Consulting, Zeeland Farm Services, and Bratney.

Coalition Support

We were awarded a $10,000 grant from the Micihgan Energy Offfice: $5,000 to be applied as a contingency for the E-58 infrastructure project. $3,000 for AFV incentives (either 3 x $1,000 incentives for hybrid or bi-fuel AFVs or 2 x $1,500 incentives for dedicated AFVs. $2,000 to develop and distribute Coalition educational and promotional materials.

Low Speed Electric Vehicles

We were awarded a $10,000 grant to provide a total of ten $1,000 rebates to be applied towards the purchase of Low Speed Electric Vehicles.

AFV Rebates

We were awarded a $20,000 grant to provide rebates which were applied towards the purchase of dedicated CNG vehicles.

Biodiesel Incentives

We were awarded a $26,830 grant to cover the incremental cost difference for biodiesel versus conventional diesel. The grant funds were distributed as follows: $10,000 City of Ann Arbor, $10,000 Ann Arbor Public Schools, and $6,830 to Manchester Public Schools.

CNG Powered Dump Truck

We were awarded a $55,000 grant to help the City of Ann Arbor purchase a dedicated CNG dump truck, have a local artist paint it, promote it, and educate the public about its benefits.

Heavy Duty CNG Vehicle

We were awarded a $48,734 grant to help the City of Ann Arbor purchase a heavy duty CNG stake panel truck, have a local artist paint it, promote it, and educate the public about its benefits.
